Sony DVLince digital production system server-based audio/video systemSony today introduced DVLince, a practical yet comprehensive digital production system for corporate, government and education customers, as well as small-market broadcasters.The all-in-one, server-based system offers a broad range of professional production applications, including non-linear editing, automated play-to-air, character and graphics generation, teleprompter control, switcher control and automatic publishing to the Internet. According to Theresa Gorman-Alesso, director of news and network operations for Sony's Business Solutions and Systems Company, the system's comprehensive digital production capabilities provide customers with significant workflow benefits. "With DVLince, you can leverage the benefits of server-based editing and collaboration by making shared audio and video assets simultaneously available to people working on the same project, including editors and script-writers," she said. "It is ideal for any entity that needs to produce programming quickly, including colleges creating online courses; federal, state and local governments developing informational programs; and corporations with recurring needs for employee and investor videos, as well as video news releases." The system's comprehensive production capabilities enable organizations to create new programming that expands their range of services, expand production capabilities or tap into new revenue streams. Gorman-Alesso added that its tape-to-tape editing capabilities are also ideal for television stations establishing news operations. In video operations where the DVCAM format for acquisition, the new system - which incorporates the i.LINK (IEEE 1394) digital interface - offers a cost-effective path to an all-digital production environment when used with compatible equipment. Pricing and Availability Since its introduction at the International Broadcaster Conference last September, this comprehensive production solution has proven to be a strong performer among European customers.
