Line 6 Variax Workbench Guitar Software for Variax 500 700 GuitarsLine 6 announced the launch of Variax Workbench, the first interactive custom shop for Variax 500 and 700 guitars. The unique product provides guitarists with their own interactive guitar custom shop with all the tools needed to easily create, store, and share guitars they’ve completely customized using a computer.Variax Workbench provides the best pickups, controls, and bodies of the greatest guitar collection for guitarists to seek their ideal tone. Guitarists can select from a complete collection of guitar bodies, pickups, tone and volume controls, then tweak the placement and settings of each until they’ve come up with a guitar that is truly unique and meets their creative needs. “With Variax Workbench, guitarists can easily create unlimited custom guitar models for the Variax,” said Marcus Ryle, senior vice president, product development, Line 6. “Ever wonder what a single-coil pickup would sound like on a hollow-body tuned a whole octave down? Probably not. That's because it wasn't a reality… until now.” In addition to the customization of bodies, pickups and sound, guitarists will also be able to select custom tuning. Now the T-model setting can be in Open G, the Spank model can be tuned a half-step down, and the Lester model can go to Drop D. Guitarists will be able to create, store, share and back-up thousand of guitar models using Workbench's Librarian. It keeps track of their custom guitars, stores them on the computer's hard drive, makes them e-mailable to others, or can be used to create a CD-ROM backup to load the customized guitars into any Variax. Workbench enables guitarists to fill each slot on the Variax Model knob and five-way switch with a custom guitar collection. Variax Workbench is a combination USB interface and software package that allows guitarists to see and hear the physical changes to their custom guitar in real time. It is compatible with any Windows PC or Mac OSX computer. Works with Variax 500 and 700 Compatible with any Windows PC or Mac OSX computer Allows you to completely customize any or all of the sounds on the Variax model knob and five-way selector Create custom or alternate tunings for any electric guitar you construct Easily create, store, share and back-up thousands of guitar models using the librarian feature Workbench’s detailed graphics allow you to see and hear the guitars you create in real time Includes custom RJ-45 cable, USB cable and hardware interface Self-powered through USB connection and small enough to throw in your guitar’s gig bag (if not your pocket) Computer System Requirements You will need to have a Variax 500 or 700 guitar and a Windows XP, Windows ME, 2000 or 98SE PC with at least a Pentium II 400 MHz or better processor, one available USB port, and 128MB or more of RAM. Mac users need to have OS X 10.2 or higher and at least a G4 with 400 MHz or better. You will also need an amplifier available to plug the 1/4” audio cable into to hear the results of customization.
