XV-5050 64-Voice Synthesizer Module
Roland announced a new member of the acclaimed XV-Series synthesizer family, the XV-5050 64-Voice Synthesizer Module. This affordable, space-saving 1U rack module contains the same incredible sound engine as Roland's flagship XV-5080 module, compatibility with SRX-Series Wave Expansion Boards, and a USB jack for easy MIDI communication with a Mac or PC.
The XV-5050 comes packed with Roland's finest sounds, including all of the patches from the XV-5080, sounds from the new Fantom* workstation, and brand-new patches created just for the XV-5050. With four stereo tones per patch, expressive Matrix Control and over one-thousand inspiring presets, this module presents an arsenal of sonic possibilities. Three onboard effects processors offer everything from crystal-clear 24-bit reverb to COSM® Guitar Amp Modeling - all bolstered by 24-bit D/A converters and S/PDIF coaxial and optical digital connectors for superb sound quality.
The XV-5050's front-panel USB MIDI port makes it easy to connect the module to a personal computer by loading the USB driver from the included CD-ROM and plugging in a USB cable. USB drivers are included for Windows ME/98/98SE/2000, as well as OMS and OSX drivers for the Mac. Of course, the XV-5050 also provides standard MIDI jacks for live performers those who prefer conventional MIDI connections.
The XV-5050 can accommodate two optional Roland SRX-Series Wave Expansion Boards, adding up to 128MB of additional high-quality sounds to the XV-5050's onboard sound library. Installing an SRX board is easy, and takes only a few seconds. Each SRX board - from SRX-01 "Dynamic Drum Kits" to SRX-05 "Supreme Dance" - contains 64MB of new tones and patches. The SRX Wave Expansion Board library is a rapidly growing library containing some of the world's finest sounds.
