SPL GainStation 8 Studio Pre Amp 130dB dynamic range
SPL announced the availability of the versatile GainStation preamplifier in an 8-channel version. Each channel of the GainStation 8 provides an independent solid state pre-amplifier with 63dB of gain and a tube pre-amplifier stage with 26dB of gain, in a studio-standard, 2U/19 rack format.
In addition to its fully discrete Class A design, the GainStation 8 runs on a 60V rail, effectively doubling its power supply and thereby achieving an impressive 130dB dynamic range.
³The GainStation 8 offers new aural perspectives and panorama through the exquisite and unsurpassed sonic qualities of high-end analog technique, particularly to DAW-based studios,² states SPL engineer Ruben Tilgner. ³Because of the superior initial signal quality, post-recording processing time is significantly lower in comparison to standard preamps.²
Having both solid state and tube pre-amps in one unit provides the recording engineer with an unprecedented number of sonic choices. Moreover, the 8-channel GainStation preamp includes additional superior technical benchmarks, including a frequency range of 1Hz-310kHz (+/- 3dB), a S/N ratio of -95.4dBu and a maximum Output level of +34dBu.
Each channel of the GainStation 8 also boasts PEAK and FET limiters for optimal output levels, a choice of 3 impedances for more precise microphone input matching, 48-volt phantom power, phase reverse, high-pass filters (50Hz) and source switching.
