From the NanoVerb to the NanoSynth to the NanoPiano (rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?), Alesis has repeatedly proven that they can squeeze big sounds and effects into tiny packages. They're also pretty amazing at shrinking prices in the process. The NanoCompressor is no exception to the rule: it is an incredibly affordable yet sonically powerful solution for full-featured stereo compression. Somehow, Alesis manages to include all the features you'd expect in a pro compressor. Things like complete compression controls, RMS and peak signal detection, hard and soft knee curves, and a sidechain input. Use it onstage with the instrument of your choice or a vocal mic. Add it to your home studio—its quiet performance will add everything but noise to your recordings.

The front panel has controls for compression threshold, ratio, attack time, release time, and output level. Selectable hard/soft knee compression curves and Peak/RMS detection styles are provided. A Bypass switch lets you do quick and easy A-B comparisons between the original signal and the compressed one. The rear panel sidechain interface allows you to use the NanoCompressor with other devices for ducking and de-essing. Whether you're buying a first compressor or you're a pro who needs a couple of extra dedicated compressors in the rack, the NanoCompressor is an excellent choice.
