Focusrite ISA110 Pro Mono Microphone Preamp and Equalizer
Focusrite have gone to great lengths to ensure that the sound of the ISA 110 Re-issue EQ is identical to that of the original Rupert Neve Focusrite Console EQ -- all the original specification capacitors and potentiometers are being used. The ISA 110 Re-issue also looks very similar to the original aesthetic scheme- the subtle combination of blue and grey that have always typified the ISA range are retained, Those engineers and producers world-wide who know the original ISA 110 will find that the Re-issue units look, sound and respond exactly like the original pieces. ISA110 Pro Microphone Preamp Features• Focusrite professional mic-pre; a classic shared-gain transformer-based design, plus transformer-driven Line input means a flexible front end that also includes phantom power and phase reverse.• The exact original ISA 110 EQ. 4 Band: High and Low Mid fully parametric; swept shelving Low and High bands; plus stepped, frequency-selectable Hi- and Lo- Pass Filters - the exact Rupert Neve EQ used in every channel of the Focusrite Studio Console. • The HF and LF shelving EQ’s are switched capacitor circuits rather than a variable resistor circuit - an absolutely unique, classic Rupert Neve design which delivers the original Neve sound. The shape of the shelving filter with a variable resistor circuit varies according to the frequency, thus shelving response is not pure, shallow at one point, steep at another. With the 110’s switched capacitor circuit the Q is constant, the EQ slope is constant, meaning accurate, predictable, beautiful results. • The Hi- and Lo-mids are state variable circuits, and are fully buffered - the ISA 110 is able to deliver precise, warm EQ with total buffering between bands. Why is this important? If controls interact, one cannot be accurate when making settings, one EQ change actually affects a change already made, there is no true independence of controls, so one is always hunting for the required effect. By offering true total buffering the ISA 110 allows you to decide which change to make and then to make it efficiently, accurately and quickly. • There is also a X3 range button which selects the range over which the band of EQ will operate. This gives you huge amounts of sensitivity on your frequency control - rather than sweeping from 40 Hz to 1.2k in a small space in the low mids for example, you have selectable range, either 40 Hz to 400 Hz, or 120Hz to 1k200Hz. All bands of EQ feature 18dB of cut or boost. Q is variable, from 0.3 to 1. High- and Low-pass filters are present as additional tools, and each provides 18dB/Octave of effective cut. • Output - transformer-based to complete the classic Focusrite "warm-yet-transparent" sonic signature loved the world over. • Proven sound quality achieved through wide bandwidth circuitry (10Hz to 140kHz) and input and output transformers. • Highest quality components- MU metal shielded power transformer, Rupert Neve design audio transformer circuitry. • Relays for all audio switching • High quality rotary switches and conductive plastic (professional console fader quality) potentiometers
