Producer Mike Bradford getting involved in the entire albumProducer Mike Bradford originally established a name for himself as a session player (bass) for well-known acts such as Anita Baker and Earl Klugh. After honing his recording skills, he went on to add the titles of engineer, arranger, mixer, composer and producer to his resumè.Today, he skillfully fills the role of "modern day" producer, getting involved in the entire album creation process, from composing to engineering to playing on some tracks as well. Most recently, Bradford has produced and/or penned tracks for the likes of Kid Rock and new pop sensation, Uncle Kracker, among others. To assist with his songwriting endeavors and playing in the studio, Bradford recently acquired a Korg Karma Music Workstation. "I think that the acoustic sounds in it are really excellent, especially the pianos, horns and strings," he explains. "What I'm also using it for is the synthesis engine. I'm taking advantage of the sound design capabilities of it. I've started using it on some new songs I'm working on for Uncle Kracker's new record as well as for producing Beth Hart's new record," he continues. But what Bradford was especially looking for was a tool that would allow him to add his own personal touch to the songs he works on. "I had always wanted something that gave me more programmer options than a lot of the synthesizers out there, and when I found out that Korg had something with a lot of the TRITON sounds but also an interface that lets you do your own customization and your own sound design capabilities, that made it the thing I wanted to get my hands on," Bradford offers. He continues to put his touch on a variety of projects due out next year. Among them, Bradford has written the theme to Disney's new Cinderella movie (a sequel to the original). He'll also be working on a record of his own, which will contain even more new sounds created by Bradford and his Karma.
