Mackie announced the addition of two new plug-ins for their Digital 8•Bus Recording Console. The new Final Mix and DSR-1 are the latest additions to a growing family of 24-bit plug-ins specifically designed for the Mackie Real Time OS 3.0 and Mackie Universal Effects (UFX) card.

“Our software team has been meticulously generating plug-ins for the D8B ever since version 3.0 of the Mackie OS was announced in early 2001” explained Keith Olsen, Corporate Director, Global Recording Market and Product Development at Mackie Designs Inc. “Now, one year later, we are able to offer our customers a continually growing array of unique and innovative plug-ins for the D8B – it just keeps getting better and better.”

The DSR-1 (de esser) is a highly accurate, frequency controlled, three-band dynamic processor that enables a user to quickly isolate and correct superfluous sibilance in vocal and instrument recordings. The DSR-1 reduces annoying sibilant and popping sounds that are often found in recordings without loosing essential crisp, top-end clarity. The DSR-1, with its funky retro looks and simple chicken head controls, is a highly professional tool that is ideal for editing vocals, instrumentals, and other sources. The DSR-1 is an invaluable plug-in for the D8B that can save a great recording by removing troublesome frequencies.
