Universal audio TDM software Plug-ins Digidesign PRO TOOLS HD compressor emulations & EQ
Universal Audio, a manufacturer of high-quality vintage audio hardware and DSP software plug-ins for digital audio workstations, is debuting TDM versions of their popular Powered Plug-Ins for Digidesign Pro Tools HD at Winter NAMM.
Universal Audio's highly touted and award winning vintage compressor emulations, the 1176LN and LA-2A are the first plugs-in available for TDM, along with the Pultec EQ and the new high-end Cambridge EQ. "There are two key factors to capturing the sound of the 1176LN compressor," said Dr. David Berners, Universal Audio's Director of Digital Signal Processing Development, "one is ultra-fast attack times-as low as 20 micro-seconds-and the second is program dependency, the 1176LN responds quite differently to different input signals. Both of these things are very difficult to capture with digital modeling. We spent a lot of time getting this right and have been excited and gratified by the number of long time 1176 hardware users who tell us we got it right."
Bill Putnam, co-founder of Universal Audio commented that: "We have had many, many requests that we port our plugs to TDM HD from Pro Tools users and we're thrilled to now be able to show them the fruits of our efforts."
Universal Audio TDM HD plug-ins will begin shipping through Universal Audio dealers and distributors worldwide in February of 2003. The MSRP for 1176LN. LA-2A, Pultec and Cambridge will be $395. Universal Audio will also offer three bundles; both compressors in a bundle with an MSRP of $695, both Eqs in a bundle with an MSRP of $695 and all four plug-ins in a "Studio Bundle" with an MSRP of $1,295, all of which will ship in February.
