Peavey Impulse 1012P Powered Speaker Systems with Black Widow Woofer
Peavey Electronics introduces two new Impulse powered speaker systems that blow the competition away, the Impulse 1012P and the 1015P. Driving 450 Watts continuous peak power through Peavey's new BWX Black Widow® woofer and 100 Watts continuous peak tweeter power through an RX™22 high frequency compression driver, a smoother sound is delivered even with an increase in power handling.
{2213.jpgrDesigned with Peavey's patented DDT™ (Distortion Detection Technique), a compression circuit enables the user to maximize the performance of the amplifier/speaker combination by preventing the power amp from running out of headroom. This allows a clean sound to be achieved even in overload conditions on both low and high power amps.
Both Impulse enclosures have a master/slave option. Make life easier by defeating the preamp in all the slaves. Engage the master/slave function and allow the slaves to be controlled by one master.
These powered Impulses demand great sound and were designed to deliver only the best, no matter who is working the controls. Unlike other systems, the EQ remains the same and is set to sound great at high and low levels. When using these powered enclosures, there is no need to worry about sliding filters or trying to make up for an inadequate power amp design. Who has time for that?
The Impulse 1012P uses a 12-inch BWX Black Widow high-power handling woofer in a direct radiating configuration with the patented Hypervent™ porting system. The Impulse 1015P features a similar high-power woofer, but in a 15-inch version. Both provide subsonic protection to maximize audible power to the woofer and minimize cone excursion.
They share many of the same features of other Impulse family members including: durable, injection-molded cabinet with weather-resistant cones, super mounting flexibility, with three molded-in handles that offer superior ease and comfortable portability.
Please compare the PV Impulse 1012p to the Yorkville NX550 and Mackie 450 by Randy Focht
Today, I just heard the Peavey 1012p 12" powered speaker. I though they sounded awesome, especially with a sub. Pretty bright and open. Not too much bass without any EQ. Perfect for a satellite. I wondered how they would sound without a sub, with Bass eq on Yamaha mixer maxed out. WOW, I couldn't believe the amount of bass that small speaker put out. Sounded like it went to about 50hz. Not 80-100hz mid type bass that you hear on other speakers. Must be the Black Widow speakers. I had owned PV speakers long ago, that also had Black widow speakers, and they too were a good 15" speaker system including the horns. But, these are 1/4 the size of my old speakers and only 55lbs. I haven't been able to demo a Mackie 450 yet, and heard only once in one ballroom. Never heard the Yorkville NX550 12" powered though I have it positioned as #1 on my list of probably the best speaker. Can you compare these speakers and how they sound? I'm going to use them with a Yorkville sub. (at least until I can get something better. ha!) My requirements: 1. Power (What is the RMS power of the PV?) 2. Decent bass (What are specs on PV?) 3. 90 degree horn for wide dispersion 4. Lightweight (55lbs max! bad back) 5. Time aligned (are PV time and phase aligned?) 6. Don't want them over heating and shutting off like the Mackie 450's sometimes do. Do the PV's ever overheat and shut off, or worse, burn up or blow out tweeters or whoofers? |
