DM Audio at the Eurovision Song Contest

DM Audio, the Swedish-based audio specialists and local Latvian company Universal Baltic Sound (UBS), took on the mammoth task of handling this yearąs Eurovision Song Contest.

While the UK's entry Jemini may have scored a lamentable first for Britain with a O nul points score, this was the fourth time DM Audio's crack technical team headed by Lars Wern and Robert Emlund has taken on the Eurovision.

An integral part of the sound rig was the use of Drawmer MX-50 De-Essers. They took the heat out of the very tricky problem of accommodating such a wide variety and number of singers 26 entries in all in a live show, watched by millions.

Lars is a long time fan of Drawmer equipment and he says:" The use of the MX-50 enabled us not to worry about the sibilance of particular singers and get on with the job in hand".

UBS, headed by Edmunds Verner, provided the FOH speaker systems, amps, and cables.

Two engineers operated FOH and two at the monitor mixer, while a fifth liaised between the artists and the monitor mixers.

Said Lars:'It really helped that we talked to every artist before and after every rehearsal and the show. We got excellent praise and after it was all done and dusted we received not one single negative remark.'
