Meyer PA Speakers and Systems in Theatre Productions

Meyer Sound Takes the Spotlight at ABTT Theatre Show.

A quick visit to London's West End will reveal more than a dozen productions employing Meyer Sound products, including such theatre classics as Wicked and Mary Poppins. The Meyer Sound products used in these productions and more will be on display on stand 118 when the ABTT (Association of British Theatre Technicians) Theatre Show convenes on June 13 and 14 in London’s Royal Horticultural Halls.

The ABTT debut of the new UPJunior ultracompact VariO loudspeaker will demonstrate how big sound sometimes comes in small packages. UPJunior is destined to be a favorite of theatrical sound designers who rave about the power, clarity, and versatility of the UPJ-1P compact VariO loudspeaker, but sometimes have applications requiring an even smaller footprint. Weighing just 28 pounds (under 13 kilos), UPJunior nevertheless produces a hearty peak SPL of 126 dB at one meter.

The deceptively dainty M'elodie ultracompact high-power curvilinear array loudspeaker will take a curtain call at the show after last year’s stellar debut. M'elodie already has won accolades for sterling audio performances in a number of productions, including a revival of The Sound of Music currently at London's Palladium.

Meyer Sound also will be showing its digital technologies at ABTT. Several new software updates will be shown: CueStation 4.5.1 control software for the Matrix3 audio show control system, version 2.7.6 of the MAPP Online Pro acoustical prediction program, Compass 1.8 control software for the Galileo loudspeaker management system, and version 5.0 of the RMS remote monitoring system.

Meyer Sound loudspeakers have been a staple of West End productions ever since the first production of Cats in 1981, and have long been the choice of first-call sound designers on Broadway, as well.
