Korg EM1 Dance Track Production Station ELECTRIBE Series

Korg announces the introduction of the fourth and most recent addition to their ELECTRIBE Series. The new EM1 Music Production station features two synth and eight drum parts, 11 insert effects, a familiar, user-friendly interface, both real-time and step sequencing and Korg's proprietary motion Sequencing.

{2235.jpgrThe EM1's PCM sound engine includes 144 drum sounds, from vintage kick drums and snares to classic and techno electronic drum sounds. 50 synth waveforms are provided, with sounds that range from deep bass tones and vintage analog synth waves, to moving modulation timbres like sync and PWM, plus chord tones, various hits and sound effects. All sounds are fully programmable, with control over pitch and amp envelope. For the synth tones, a rich resonant filter and glide are also possible. A new Drive effect (unique to the EM1) can add more bite to synth and drum sounds. Subtle use of the effect gives more presence and warmth to sounds, while full distortion can be used with other effects for more striking and experimental timbres.

The EMo1's eight drum and two synth parts per pattern allow the creation of complex and intricate productions. Each pattern can be one to four bars long, and can be quickly entered in real-time or step entry via an easy-to-read, 16-key illuminated keypad.

The EMo1 features Korg's unique "Motion Sequence function" for memorizing knob movements used to vary the volume, panning or filter cutoff of a phrase. Two Motion Sequences per drum part and up to three per synth part can be recorded. For live performance, real-time functions such as Part solo/mute can produce a wide range of variations from a single pattern.

An on-board digital effects processor features 11 types of effects ranging from standard Reverb and Chorus to more extreme effects such as a Resonator and Ring Modulator. Each part can either bypass or be sent to the chosen effect, for creative mixing options. A Master Delay effect can also sync to a particular pattern for easily locking tempo. All effects are easily editable via dedicated knobs or by the Motion Sequencer.

A total of 192 fully-editable Patterns cover the latest dance genres, including House, Techno, Trance, 2-Step, UK Garage, Rap and Hip-hop. Users can also save their own creations. Up to sixteen Songs can be created, with up to 256 patterns and 35,700 events each. The Pattern Set function can arrange up to 64 Patterns across the step keys, allowing the performer to switch patterns in real-time by simply touching the keys. A Tempo Lock feature and a Tap Tempo function provide additional control over patterns.

The ELECTRIBEoM easily interfaces with the ELECTRIBEoA, ELECTRIBEoR and ELECTRIBEoS via MIDI In, Out, and Thru ports. It can also be connected to external sound modules for use as a step sequencer, or to a computer for use with software-based sequencers and tone modules. Compact and portable, the EMo1 is housed in the same rugged cabinet as the other ELECTRIBEs, making it the ideal portable dance studio.
