Propellerhead Software Mac OS X versions of ReCycle, Reason and RebirthPropellerhead Software, the Swedish company behind acclaimed products such as Reason, Recycle! and ReBirth, today announced that it is releasing Mac OS X versions of its entire product line, including the tremendously popular ReCycle, Reason and Rebirth applications. Reason for Mac OS X will be demonstrated at the Winter NAMM Show."Propellerhead Software is committed to providing easy access to simple, effective and dedicated audio technologies for every musician," said Ernst Nathoorst-Boos, Managing Director of Propellerheads. "Mac OS X offers advanced audio technologies with unprecedented power and rock-solid stability to give our customers an incredible platform for creating music." "Mac OS X Core Audio integrates all audio functions directly into the operating system, enabling ultra low latency and superior overall performance," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "We're pleased to have Propellerhead join the growing list of developers offering Mac OS X applications and helping Mac users accelerate their transition to our next generation operating system." Propellerhead customers running Mac OS X benefit from decreased latency to below 1 ms (dependent on sample rate) and users with multiple processors can take advantage of Mac OS X's preemptive multitasking and symmetric multiprocessing, allowing different parts of Reason to run on separate processors - e.g. the audio engine would run on one processor while the GUI (Graphical User Interface) could run on another - all operating seamlessly and more reliably. Reason takes advantage of Mac OS X Core Audio, which makes the use of multiple I/O audio interfaces straight-forward and renders OMS and ASIO unnecessary. Mac OS X also makes MIDI interface drivers available directly within the operating system.
