A typical Guitar 9th Chord Blues Turn Around

The blues turn around is one of the things that make blues guitar so interesting. The basic roots of the chords can change but it is more interesting to change the chords and stick to the 12 bar blues.

One important change can be the way the first chords are played, or even the first 8 chords. But blues gets even better when the turn around is used as a climax point before starting over again. To do this you could use different fills, creative ways of playing standard chords but you can also try to play some very interesting and difficult chord variations.

In the previous lesson we already discussed the Jimi Hendrix 9th chord. This certainly is not a very standard chord but when you play it on guitar you know it will make your 12 bar blues sound better. Let’s look at a complete turn around using this chord.
