Prosoniq to drop the PACE copy protection from all products

Karlsruhe, Germany, Prosoniq today announce that they have plans to drop the PACE Anti-Piracy copy protection technology from their whole product line. Stephan M. Sprenger, CTO at Prosoniq: "We dropped PACE from our PC line of products about one year ago and did not see any decrease in sales. In fact, many customers are thanking us for taking that step, freeing them from the need to get response codes, the need for replacement diskettes and other hassle they had in the past. Products that use PACE inevitably depend on the customer support of the vendor at some point in time, which is a concern for both the legal customers and the vendor. We believe that by dropping it from our products entirely they will become less dependent on hardware and therefore more compatible to new OS's including MacOS X and upcoming Macintosh models. I sincerely hope that this step is rewarded by the customers becoming more aware that using and sharing cracked or illegal software hurts both the customer and the vendor and that more people are actually buying the software from us. Only legal copies allow us to develop new versions and improve on our products - each and every illegal copy of a product is one step towards the death of the product or the company that makes it".

The new product version is to be available in April, registered users will automatically be notified of a free update.
