Roland embraces computer-based music production
--New Products/Updates Integrate Roland Hardware with Macs and PCs --
Los Angeles, Recognizing the importance of the computer in modern music production,Roland is making its new and existing products easier to integrate with PCs and music software.From updates that allow products like the BR-8 and SP-808EX to exchange .WAV files with a PC,to software control for the VP-9000 (V-Producer)and complete computer-based recording solutions like the new Studio Pack, Roland is leading the way to creating the hybrid hardware/software-based studio of the future.
As the price/performance ratio of personal computers continues to skyrocket, Roland is working on innovative ways to make its hardware integrate with,and in some cases,take advantage of the power offered by today ’s Mac and PC platforms.This was first evidenced in software updates for Roland/BOSS recorders like the VS-840GX and BR-8 that let their native audio files be exported in .WAV format.As further evidence, the new VS-2480 also allows bi-directional .WAV conversion.This allows musicians to take advantage of the reliability and convenience offered by Roland hardware,while being able to import the final mixdown into computer audio editing software for further manipulation via plug-ins;these files can also be burned to CD or converted to MP3 format for distribution on the Internet.Products like the SP-808EX e-Mix Studio and new SP-303 Dr.Sample can even import .WAV files for a virtually unlimited sound library.

VS 1880 mastering & miaxing by Larry
We recently completed a recording project after literally hundreds of hours and we then mastered a copy. We recently the the original master duplicated or we burned another copy so that we would have more than one. In playing back both the original and the burned copy, we discovered that they are both distorted beyong recognition. What did we do wrong and how can we fix this without remixing the entire project from scratch? Also, can the project be mixed from a master or does it have to be mixed on the VS1880 where it resides? Thanks! |
