Crest debuts the XR-20 rack-mount mixer

- The XR-20 is the first in a new line - the X-Rack Series - that promises to bring a new benchmark for price/performance to the widest range of applications -
Crest Audio today introduced the new XR-20, a powerful, compact rack-mount mixer. Designed to have the features, versatility and quality typically found only on larger, more expensive tabletop units, the innovative XR-20 is being introduced at a very cost-effective price. The Crest XR-20 is designed to be used in a wide range of applications including fixed installation, live sound reinforcement, project studio and broadcast.

The secret to the XR-20's enormous flexibility is the number of features that Crest has packed into the mixer, and the high degree of quality and reliability engineered into its design. These features include a combination of 12 mono and four stereo inputs (a total of 20 inputs), all with mic preamps and switched 48-volt phantom power capability. Each input channel offers four-band EQ, with 18 dB-per-octave high-pass filters on the mono input channels. Additionally, recording/studio-type features are included such as insert points on all inputs, subgroups, aux outs and left, right and mono outputs. There are six aux busses, which are selectable pre- or post-fader in pairs. The XR-20's main outputs use XLR-type jacks, and are switchable between mic and line.

In addition to these operational features, Crest's design team added a level of quality not seen before on small rack-mount mixers. The XR-20's engineering includes grounding design conforming to AES specifications, resulting in optimum rejection of RF and ground-related noise. The XR-20 mixer exhibits less than +/- 30 degrees of input-to-output phase shift - again, the kind of engineering quality generally reserved for only the most expensive studio consoles. One unique innovation is the fact that this console is built on the front panel (utilizing individual circuit boards), which allows the back pan to be removed, easily exposing each module should repair be necessary.

Like all Crest products, the XR-20 comes with a full five-year warranty, guaranteeing years of reliable service.

The new Crest XR-20 is the first in what will become a growing line of "X-Rack" mixers, providing the solutions for a wide range of applications.
